A
Moebius International
Lonestar truck model.
Few
new truck models are released, especially ones that might
be all new 100% tolling.
Moebius
Models threw away the book on truck kits and re-invented
the whole truck model genre' with their all new International
Lonestar.
Love
it or hate it, the grille has an odd locomotive look to
it, and that has captured the eye of many truck modelers.
And real truckers as well.
This
kit is fully loaded and then some. Full chassis, engine,
interior, it has everything you want and everything you
need to build an exceptional truck model.
I
started mine by making a jig to hold the frame. I don't
often build truck models, but having been brought up on
models from the 1970s - mainly MPC and AMT truck kits, I
know that the frames can be squashed and bent in the boxes.
Or even if they are straight, they can be a bear to keep
straight with all the cross channels and cross members glued
in place.
The
jig prevents all those issues and holds the frame square.
The
modern diesel engine is highly detailed.
As
with all truck kits, the differentials, and some other parts,
are half assemblies. Simple clamps will hold them in place
while the glue dries.
Masking
tape is useful for mockups, and then gluing the multi piece
interior compartment together. Decals are provided to spruce
up the interior, including wood grain decals.
There
is more than enough chrome to keep any truck modeler happy.
I
used Plastruct sheet diamond plate to add some extra footing
on the top of the chassis.
