This is the AMT
1967 Mercury Comet kit.
At
first I thought this model might be based off the AMT 1966
Ford Fairlane kit they've had for many years. But this kit
is completely different. I don't think they share any parts
at all.
Assembly
is straight forward. The engine compartment is built from
four different main parts, a feature I don't really care
for, though a lot of newer kits are made this way.
There
are no extra parts that I saw. Rather than go with just
a straight build, I dded wheels from the Revel Foose Pickup
kit, and used parts of the engine from that kit as well.
The
chrome was really nice in my example. The bumpers were easy
to mount, unlike many other car kits I've built, where most
are just to fiddly.
I
painted the car a Testors Light Blue. (an enamel color).
The
interior is Tamiya White (with light blue accents).
The
figure is one from Hasegawa, one of the several sets they
make with two female figures. I painted her dress to match
the car's color.
This
is a good kit to build. Especially if you want to swap the
wheels or other parts to make it in your own style.
