Since
I live in Florida, these are so I can check up on events and see
what's going on locally in my state.
Traditionally,
model clubs usually do model shows and events of some kind, usually
once a year. Over the years, many of us have gotten to know each
other as modelers, even if we only see each other in person maybe
once or twice a year. The events are more of a get together to
talk about and enjoy the hobby, though there can be some friendly
competitiveness.
I've
been to shows in Tampa, Cocoa, Fort Lauderdale, Pompano, West
Palm Beach, Ocala, Miami and many others closer to my home. I've
been to three National IPMS events. Once in Miami, and twice in
Orlando.
I
encourage you to visit a show. Even if you don't build, or have
a model to enter in the event, go as a guest or just as a spectator.
You will be amazed at the scale models you will see.

- NOTES:
- Some
of the conventions and events are related to modeling
in some way. It depends on what kind of modeling you do.
For Scifi conventions, vendors carry scifi related kits
and toys and memorabilia. For Anime conventions, you will
see kits and figures related to anime and Japanese culture
models (Gundam, Transformrs, etc). At a comics convention
you'll see figures, statues and kits of super heroes.
Again, as long as there are vendors, you might find that
kit or toy related subject you've been looking for.
