These
are wooden models of more modern ships (as opposed to sailing
vessels).
From
tugboats to military ships, they range widely in subjects and
complexity.
Some
of the larger ones can be converted to R/C use, though we list
them as static models for display.
Some
of these wooden kits are large. Be prepared to have a wide space
to show them off, as impressive as they are.
Often
times these kits will include other materials to add to the wood
aspects, such as plastic (vacuum formed, or ABS), metal or brass
parts, and others. While a wood model kit at heart, the other
materials allow you to build a more detailed and accurate model.
(There are some things that can be hard to repliacet in a smal
scale with just wood).
These
kits often have a minimum of rigging, or none at all, so that's
a popular aspect with these types of ship models.
These
are more modern ship models (not sailing ships or boats),
but are still primarily wood kits. They do sometimes have
other materials in the kit, such as plastic, photo-etch,
brass, metal, and others.
Note
that some of these can be quite large, and can even be modified
for R/C use (though we list them for static model display).
