is the Jules Vern 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Nautilus
Submarine model be Pegasus.
submarine portion is plastic, with brass photoetch that's
included with the model. The base and squid are a vinyl
material (and require CA glue).
When finished, the kit is around 12 inches long.
multi-facted windows are complex, but Pegasus gives you
paint masks for them. This is tedious work, but makes the
glass windows look spectacular once done (I painted mine
a brass / copper color).
of the sub model is straight forward. Some pieces do look
alike, so study the directions carefully to get the right
ones in the right places.
interior can be detailed out with paints and chalks as I
have done. The interior is visible through both sides of
the glass windows. Though wthout interior lighting, it's
hard to see once the model is assembled.
painted mine a rust color. The squid and base are done in
various paints, once a primer was applied to cover the vinyl
brass photoetch parts are fragile, and being made of soft
brass, easy to bend. Which is good to get them in place,
but bad if you bump them, because that will bend them at
random. And they're hard to get straight again when needed.
it's a spectacular model, and just plain cool.
