PT Boat Model
Italeri Elco 80' PT Boat Model
worked on this model for a little over a year, off and on. It
has a lot of parts.
it's a very good model, quality wise.
are the guns, missile tubes, and torpedo carrier sub assemblies.
The model features a fair size phot-etch set. Not with 1000 parts,
but useful parts, just what you need where plastic parts would
siuffer on detail.
tried to install as many parts as I could before pianting the
whole upper deck. Green is the solid color to use, but I also
added some black with Vallejo paint for the camouflage. Both on
the hull and the deck. The guns were detailed with shades or black
and grey. The UHF / VHF antennas were give tips of white. The
torpedo tubes silver and brass colors.
kit includes two metal gun barrels you can use to replace the
deck parts will cover the holes for the desk screws (metal screws
hold the upper deck to the hull). So those were painted and then
added once the hull was done, and the deck screwed on.
More deck work.
of the green painting is done below.
finished model. The base is a piece of flooring wood (a plank),
and the Italeri stand was painted a dark metallic color, and then
screwed to the plank. I glued pieces of felt to the stand where
the hull sits so it wouldn't scratch the paint.
side rocket launchers will swivel in and out board.
used a modified 1/35 figure, which I painted all tan. The figure
is only to give a sense
scale, so it's not any particular kind of Naval officer.
it took along time to build, it's a very detailed kit. And well
worth the money.
for me since I'm a fan of PT boats.
