The
scale ships models are of the larger scale, 1/350, and some are
larger. They traditionally have hundreds of parts, so there's
plenty to build for your next project.
Of
course no German model fleet would be complete without the Bismarck.
Being the largest German battleship ever built, she was developed
to be a major threat to shipping during WWII.
The
British Royal Navy eventually hunted down the ship, even as they
tried to run and hide, and enaged them in battle. The Bismark's
steering / rudder had been damaged earlier the day before by a
torpedo bomb from a British Fairey biplane - an obsolete plane
left over from WW1 !
The
Bismark was eventually scuttled by her crew at the battle. The
ship had only been in operation 8 months. (The Tirpitz is the
sister ship to the Bismark).
The
Graf Spee met a similar end. After tangling with British Naval
ships in a heavy battle, she returned to port for repairs. Hearing
that the Royal Navy was superior and on the hunt for the ship,
the Graf Spee's Commander had her scuttled.
