Diecast Toy Banks and Model Cars
Banthrico
was a company that made toy cars, primarily out of metal.
The resembled promo (promotional) cars, and some wer made
to be used as coin banks. It's reported they made over 900
different toy banks over the decades.
They
made products from the 1930s on up to the 1980s in one form
or another, and were based in Chicago, IL..
Products
made before 1985 would normally be stamped Banthrico on
them.
These
images were sent to me from a visitor to my site who had
gotten them from an auction I believe, or from someone who
had them in their attic and had given them to him. He was
seeking information on what they were. If I rememebr right
they were later sold on ebay.
He
gave me permission to use these photos on my site.
I
think they make an interesting subject historically, so
I hope you enjoy seeing them. These are molds from where
the cars were made from.
From
the images the car looks to be around 1/24 scale maybe.
